ALCOHOL AND DRUG REDEMPTION

Alcoholism and other addictions helped to create a 30-year journey into the darkness of sex, drugs, and alcohol. These obsessions served to stripped me of opportunities to succeed and rise out of my self-imposed hell. It took 30-years of trying to escape from reality to connect-the-dots to freedom and to find hope sufficient to find sobriety. It was about time.

My name is Beth H. For the purposes of my book, my pseudo-name is Harriet Hunter. it was suggested I let you know who I really am. Since my walk into recovery in 1999, I’ve had one primary purpose: to show others how they can achieve their miracles with a vision and determination to never-ever go backwards one day at a time.A woman with curly hair and wearing a scarf.

I strive to be a conduit of encouragement to others in their disease of alcoholism and drugs of choice, by showing them what continues to work for me. Using practical tools, principles and promises as found in Alcoholics Anonymous and other literature, I attempt to mirror examples of how anyone can be free from the bondage of self, regardless of their situation. Employing a change of perception through the Steps, the fellowship and the village that is recovery, is what propels us forward.

My passion is to help others find Sobriety and HOPE

Over the course of my sobriety, I have worked with hundreds of women who also suffered with alcoholism and drug addiction to help them find a peace within. When life returns to normal, I will continue to facilitate meetings, bring hope to women incarcerated, and sponsor women both face-to-face and on line. Encouraging and giving hope to others that with their faith, everything is possible, is what we all need, and what continues to be so freely given to me.

Two dogs are playing in the sand together. When I’m not writing or in meetings, I spend time with my four-legged babies in and around my 2-acre woods.

I am a member of Tallahassee’s Writing Association; Florida’s Writers Association, Florida Association of Publishers and Authors, and Sisters of the Sentences Writers Group, (part of Fiction Among Friends group).  .

One common denominator that makes us equal, regardless of our experiences or journey, is our pain. Our pain is the same. It is this vision of equality that allows me to embrace and encourage others in and out of recovery. We are all children of a oneness which for me, makes us all the same. Please continue to come back often. Sooner or later, you will hear yourself in my blog posts.

    1. Julie,

Please pass it on, and come back often. I’m so grateful you relate to our common denominator. I believe it is the plan of a universal Creator that speaks to a connection to each of us.

  3. Hi Beth,

The first step for an alcoholic or drug addict is to admit to themselves that they have a problem that is out-of-control and needs professional help. That’s the beginning of going down the recovery path.
Sharing is a blessing because it may help “one” person. One person may want to help another. We need to follow the ones with the desire to get healthy again. Most of all, bring God into your lives because He will never leave you alone. We close the door on Him.

    1. Sequeira,
So wonderful to see you here. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I hope you will come back often!

  6. Hello Harriet:
I am a new non-fiction writer who is considering attending the Venice book fair. I was wondering if you were happy with the event, the number of attendees and book sales. I have a Civil War Book that presents proof that Lincoln’s murder was actually the brainchild of Secretary of State Judah Benjamin (head of Confederate Service). I have a document from Duke University that ties Benjamin to a bomb plot that was verified in 1907, thus making Jon Wilks plan B. I will attach it if I can. This isn’t another conspiracy theory. The book is getting top reviews (Kirkus and Online Books.com. Thanks if you have time to respond.

    1. Thank you for your input Sandy. It sounds like your civil war book is interesting. I enjoyed the Venice book fair
when I last attended. I appreciate your comments.

      Sincerely,
      Harriet

    1. Jeff, thank you so much for responding and for your kind words. I do hope you’ll visit me again!~ Blessings to you for a wonderful New Year, and more.

      Sincerely,
      Harriet
